Hi friends.
I have been thinking lately about the small fortune I spend on my hair and if I will be willing to do it for the rest of my life, and the answer is no, of course I will not be willing to do it for the rest of my life. So then the question becomes: When will I be willing to stop?
My details: touch-ups once every six weeks, full highlights twice a year. A haircut once every three months and bang trims every six weeks or so. I am, curiously, spending less on shampoo and products now though, as I have shifted to washing once a week and using dry shampoo in the interim. Still, in general, it is one of the bigger regular expenses of my life.
But I love my hair. The last time I got highlights, I posted a pic on instagram with the caption, “We don’t observe a lot of religious holidays at this point in our lives and government holidays are an ironic joke in the year 2024, but what we do celebrate semi-annually is the Day of Fresh Highlights. Thank you to…everyone who gave me compliments last night without even knowing they were participating in the festivities. It takes a village, people. 🎀”
Come on, let me have my fun!
